Wi-Fi Planning:
Requirements, Simulation, and Measurement
Professional Wi-Fi planning is often the key to the success of a new wireless network deployment. Only a structured approach can create a stable and reliable foundation for future operation. Requirements are particularly high in industrial environments, as production processes, machines, and systems rely on a continuous and interference-free wireless connection. A key and early component of this process is targeted Wi-Fi planning and coverage analysis, which is used to plan and ensure the wireless coverage and performance of the network.

The Different Phases of Wi-Fi Planning
Documenting Your Wi-Fi Requirements
We lay the foundation for your high-availability Wi-Fi
The most important step in planning a Wi-Fi infrastructure takes place even before the Wi-Fi coverage analysis. This is because the expected functions are defined first. We therefore determine how many Wi-Fi clients, using which applications and data rates, will be moving where and how quickly within your Wi-Fi network. In addition to capacity, we also consider the roaming behavior of the Wi-Fi clients.
Our services in this phase
- Request our Wi-Fi Check
- Review of the plans
- Recording of requirements
- Definition of Wi-Fi parameters for signal, SNR, transmit power, installation options, antenna options, and device type
In this way, we establish a professional foundation for the proper design and planning of your Wi-Fi infrastructure.
Simulation of the Wi-Fi infrastructure
We plan theoretically for practical implementation
The basic plans for every high-availability Wi-Fi network are developed at our desks. So before we visit your location, we simulate the ideal scenario in theory. To do this, we study building plans, sketch the layouts, and define the details. We also determine the materials and specify the components to be used. In doing so, we use either the components you specify or those best suited for your Wi-Fi connection—regardless of the manufacturer.
Our services in this phase
- Integration and calibration of building plans
- Drawing the building structure and specifying materials
- Defining coverage zones and service areas
- Simulation with visualization of predefined parameters for range, data throughput, redundancy, and channel planning
Our simulation always includes frequency planning and is based on your detailed building plans.
Partial radio field measurement on site
We verify our plans in your environment
The results of the simulation from Phase 2 serve as a baseline for the on-site verification, i.e., the on-site measurement. Specifically, this means we verify the simulated coverage in your building. To do this, we place a specially configured access point according to the simulation, enabling us to measure the actual signal propagation, including all sources of interference in your environment. In this way, we verify the assumed values, check for sources of interference, and determine the exact installation locations for all access points to ensure the best possible connection.
Our services in this phase
- SoaS reference measurements per building to verify the simulation results
- Site inspection of installation locations and assessment of local conditions
- “Radio field measurement” report in accordance with approved frequency bands
- “Spectral Analysis” measurement report (potential frequency interference sources)
We use reference access points in the 2.4 GHz and/or 5 GHz bands.
Wireless network planning based on measured data
We create the final plan for your Wi-Fi network
The results of our theoretical and practical planning combine to form the detailed construction plan according to which your Wi-Fi network will be set up. It includes a bill of materials listing the required hardware—such as access points, antennas, splitters, antenna cables, and power supplies—as well as installation instructions for each installation location.
Our services in this phase
- Evaluation of measurement results and adjustment of channel planning
- Preparation of measurement reports, including photographic documentation of all installation sites
- Specific installation instructions tailored to on-site conditions
- Creation of the bill of materials for the components to be installed
For every Wi-Fi site survey, we create detailed documentation, which we provide to you after the final measurements.
Wi-Fi Analysis
If you’re having issues with your existing network, our experts are here to help with our specialised Wi-Fi analysis!
Wi-Fi Analysis — The Solution for Problems in Existing Networks
If you’re unable to work smoothly in your existing Wi-Fi environment, it may be because your setup is faulty or not configured optimally. External interference may also be affecting your wireless connection. Our technicians can help with a specialized Wi-Fi troubleshooting analysis, including spectral analysis. In this process, we make the air “visible,” so to speak. After all, the reasons for a poor connection are varied and not always immediately obvious. They may lie within the Wi-Fi itself, but just as easily in the LAN, in the authentication process, or in incorrect prioritization. That’s why, if necessary, we extend our Wi-Fi analysis to your entire network and subject it to a thorough examination. An IP packet analysis helps us with this—and, of course, the trained eyes of our technicians.
